Rajouri police today busted a fake currency racket after arrested one of the main accused, while search to arrest others is on.
The SSP Rajouri, Yougal Manhas said that few people were being involved in circulation of fake currency in Rajouri district and police has arrested one of the accused.
Manhas termed this operation as a big success and said that speedy investigation is going on in the case to unearth all the links of this racket and to put all the accused behind the bars.
The SSP informed that a specific input was received by police recently that some people are involved in some unlawful activity after which a special team was constituted which comprised of officers including DySP Operations (PC) Rajouri, Sukhdev Singh, SDPO Thanamandi Iftikar A Chowdhary and SHO Thanamandi Nazir Ahmed while on the basis of the input, a trap was laid under the supervision of Addl SP Rajouri, Mohd Yousuf.
“One of the suspected person was intercepted in this trap at Khablan village on Rajouri-Thanamandi road and during his through search, police recovered some cash which during investigation came out to be fake after which the said man was arrested from the spot ” SSP said identifying the accused as Sagheer Ahmed Chowdhary son of Nissar Hussain resident of Dodassan Bala village of Thanamandi in Rajouri district.
Total 29 fake currency notes of five hundred rupees value each was recovered from the said accused with total amount of fourteen thousand and five hundred rupees.
SSP added that so far in the initial investigation of this case, names of three person of Rajouri have came to fore in the racket and their search has been started and raids are going on to nab them. Manhas also disclosed that involvement of some traders of Rajouri town in this racket is also suspected and investigation into the matter is going on.
A case FIR 19/2018 US 489-B, 489-C RPC have been registered in Thanamandi police station and further investigation in speedy mode is going on with more arrested likely very soon.
