Extending full support to agitating people of Kot-Bhalwal Block under the banner of Kandi Belt Movement, Team Jammu today described move of the Jammu Municipal Corporation to dump City’s garbage in that area as illegal and demanded inquiry against all those officials who have given NoCs for dumping of garbage in such a highly populated area of Jammu district that too in violation of Solid Waste Management Rules.

Volunteers of Team Jammu along with other prominent people of Kandi belt including 20 today blocked Kot-Bhalwal road and did not allow the vehicular movement for three hours. The protestors raised slogans against district administration and state government and demanded immediate stoppage of dumping of garbage in that area. They threaten to intensify the agitation if government failed to amend its decision.

Addressing the protestors including women and elderly lot, Chairman Team Jammu, Zorawar Singh Jamwal came down heavily on all those officials at helm of affairs who gave NoCs for dumping of garbage in such a highly populated area. “There is fear of epidemic looming large among local inhabitants as entire belt is being filled up with filth and litter. The dumping site is in the center Government Degree College, Sanskrit University besides religious establishments like Temple, Mosque and ages old Dargah,” pointed Zorawar Singh Jamwal and extended full support to agitating people till the dumping of garbage is stopped by concerned authorities.

Addressing the gathering Sh. KD Singh Chairman Kandi Belt Movement strongly condemned the illegal move of the Jammu Municipal Corporation to dump garbage in Kot-Bhalwal, a highly populated area of Jammu district in violation of Solid Waste Management Rules.

He said that people of Kot-Bhalwal and adjoining villages have been protesting for last about a month against the illegal dumping of garbage by JMC but administration has paid no heed.

Ex-Sarpanchs, Raj Dev Singh, Sukhdev Singh and advocate Ram Mohammad in their speeches stated that it was  very unfortunate that from February 2018, JMC in violation of Solid Waste Management  Rules and State Pollution Control Board rules has again started dumping about 200-250 trucks of solid waste in Bhalwal area.

Among others present on the occasion included ex-Sarpanchs Balbir Singh, Anwar Khan, Sanjeev Singh, Vabishan Singh, Narinder Singh, Sukhdev Singh, Kuljeet Singh, Pratap Singh, Fakir Chand, Kasturi Lal Sharma, Jagdish Raj, Singh, Raj Roop Singh, Prabhakar Singh and Kulbhushan Singh, Surinder Singh Gilli, Sunil Raipuria, Pardeep Baloria, Danish Jamwal, Komal Singh, Shamsher, Rishu Chib, J P Singh, Lucky Singh and T P Singh.
