Jammu, December 3:

At least two civilians were killed and eight others were injured in a ceasefire violation by Pakistan in Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, 3 December, ANI reported.

The shelling from across the border in Shahpur and Kirni sectors was retaliated by the Indian Army, a defence spokesperson said, according to PTI.

“At about 2:30 pm, Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing of small arms and shelling with mortars in the two sectors. The Indian Army is retaliating befittingly,” the officer said.

The injured are being shifted to a hospital, the officer added.
