28 students were wounded in a mysterious blast at a school in Kakapora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday.

Reports said that a blast took place inside a private school in Narbal area of Kakapora where the students were getting winter tuitions around 2 pm.

Medical Officer, PHC Kakapora Dr Wahid told Greater Kashmir that fourteen students with splinter injuries were brought to the facility for treatment.

“Three among the injured were referred to Srinagar for specialised treatment,” he said, adding that the students had received injuries mostly in their limbs.

Three more injured were shifted to district hospital Pulwama for treatment.

Block Medical Officer Pampore Dr Muhammad Yousuf told Greater Kashmir that 11 injured were shifted to SDH Pampore. “We received 11 injured. Four among them were referred to Bone and Joints Hospital Barzulla and one was referred to SMHS hospital,” he said.

Police Version:

Today at about 1430 hours some explosion  took place inside the class room of standard 10 of a private school (tuition centre) known as Falai-e-Millat at Narbal in district Pulwama. In this incident reportedly 12 students have sustained injuries. They were rushed to the hospital and stated to be stable.

Police officers have reached at the spot and are ascertaining the nature and circumstances of the blast. Case has been registered and investigation is in progress.
