This was revealed by minister of state for labour and employment department Ajay Nanda while replying to a query raised by National conference MLA Muhammad Shafi Uri in the House.

“At least 6163 unemployed engineering degree/diploma holders are also registered in the state,” he said.

The minister, however, said the government has taken various initiatives for providing employment to the unemployed qualified youth in government as well as in private sector.

He said the government sector has adopted a policy to fast-track the recruitment in the government departments for filling up of non-gazetted posts.

The minister said it was obligatory on the recruiting agencies– JK Public Service Commission (PSC) and JK Service Selection Recruitment Board (SSRB)– to complete the selection process of already referred vacancies in a time-bound manner.

“During last three years PSC has made 3290 selections and SSRB has made 19583 selections in the same period,” the minister said
