NEW DELHI, November 14 ( JKNT)Car parking at airports across India has been made free for a week till next Monday due to the ongoing currency crisis. The state-run Airports Authority of India, which is headed by Gujarat cadre IAS officer G Mohapatra who was handpicked by PM Modi for accelerating aviation growth in India, on Monday took this decision for all airports – including the PPP ones at metros like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Hyderabad.

“Citizens are facing currency hardship due to the demonetisation of Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 notes across the nation. Hence, AAI has decided to support this campaign of the government of India and extend possible help to air travellers and airport users. During the present crisis of currency hardship, AAI has decided to waive off car parking charges as a supportive hand to the airport users of the nation from midnight of November 14 to midnight of November 21, 2016. Airport directors of all AAI airports have been directed accordingly,” a statement said.
