NEW DELHI: Bharti Airtel Tuesday launched special offer that allows Rs 9000 worth free data for customers who switch to telcos’ 4G service.
The move is aimed to increase 4G customer base in the wake of arch rival Reliance Jio’s aggressive strategy that aims to acquire 100 million subscribers by March 2017 with free voice and data offering under the Happy New Year offer.
The 12 months offer, worth up to Rs 9000, is available to any customer with a 4G mobile handset that is currently not on the Airtel network, India’s top carrier in a statement said.
The offer, according to telco, will be available to pan India consumers from January 4 till February 28, 2017.
Under the new scheme, subscribers will get free 3GB data every month till December 31, 2017 with select prepaid and postpaid packs and new data benefit will be over and above the existing benefits.
The prepaid customers who opt for Rs 345 recharge will get additional 3GB data every month, according to the Gurgaon-based operator.
The data benefits will be valid for 28 days and can be availed for a maximum of 13 recharges till December 31, 2017, and the first-time free 3GB data benefit can be availed through MyAirtel app and data benefits on subsequent recharges will be instant.
“We are seeing increasing penetration of 4G handsets across the country and believe that this attractive offer will provide an opportunity to more and more customers to enjoy high-speed broadband on their devices with Airtel,” Ajai Puri, Director – Market Operations, Bharti Airtel said.
