America corners Pak on cross-border terrorism

 

Srinagar,  October 9

America is playing an active role in defusing tensions between  India and Pakistan  following Uri terror attack last month in which 19  Indian soldiers  lost lives .

The American officials are in touch with  Delhi and Islamabad over the need for  peace in South Asian region . This had been confirmed by the state department spokesperson John Kirby last week.

The US  has termed   the September  18th Uri attack as  cross border terror attack impliedly  accusing Pakistan of having hand in the attack that sparked off tensions between the two countries.

Pakistani and Indian armies are engaged in  exchange of fire, particularly after Indian army conducted surgical strikes in Pakistan occupied Kashmir  on September  29th ., killing an unspecified  number of terrorists  .

Terror launch pads  in PoK and Pakistan and the use of  non-state actors like  Lashkar-e-Toiba, Jaish-e-Mohammad  have  strained relations between the two countries ,  for Pakistan used these terror groups  are being used as policy tool by Islamabad to achieve its foreign policy  objectives .

Pakistan’s special envoy on Kashmir,  Senator Mushaid Hussain , who concluded , his five –day visit of the U S was a disappointed person  as  at  each and every meeting he attended or addressed , he was  confronted over  cross-border terrorism and the role of the terrorists in Pakistan’s policy.

According to Dawn newspaper , the  Senator  was told in very clear terms that unless the cross-border attacks are stopped, there would be no ears available  to Pakistan  to hear  its version on Kashmir.
