Srinagar, February 2: In consonance with the national level endeavour of emancipation of women, aptly embodied in the slogan ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padao’, the Army has undertaken a large number of initiatives to empower women. One among them is the skill development activities at Youth Centre, Boniyar. Sustained efforts from the Army have motivated and young girls to enroll for the Cutting and Tailoring and Fashion Designing courses being run at the Youth centre, Boniyar.
As part of the motivational endeavour, 25 girls from the course were taken to Delhi, Chandigarh and Amritsar to give them exposure to the endless possibilities which are available. They were taken to various institutes in these cities and were given first hand experience of various avenues available. This has had a cascading effect and presently the Youth Centre, Boniyar is highly subscribed by women, which is a perceptible change.
