Reports reaching GNS said that an army party of 21 RR led by an officer of Major rank Surab Suman while passing through the woods of Nagranad area of Zatchaldara, Rajwar when the blast occurred.

Srinagar, October 30:

Eight army soldiers including an officer were injured in a blast at Rajwar area of Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Tuesday.

Reports reaching GNS said that an army party of 21 RR led by an officer of Major rank Surab Suman while passing through the woods of Nagranad area of Zatchaldara, Rajwar when the blast occurred.

Police sources, however, said that a grenade exploded accidentally while the army officer was giving demonstration to the soldiers in the woods.

In the blast, eight soldiers including the army major suffered serious injuries, they said.

All the injured were taken to military hospital Drugmulla where from two seriously wounded including the army major have been referred to army’s 92 base hospital for specialized treatment.

An army official also confirmed that four soldiers received injuries and said that the details of the nature of blast is being ascertained.
