Srinagar,  March 27     Army today paid befitting tribute to Late Gunner Kuldeep Singh who attained martyrdom while performing highway protection duties on 26 Mar 2018 in Pulwama District. In a solemn ceremony at BB Cantt, Maj Gen SK Sharma, Chief of Staff, Chinar Corps and all ranks, paid homage to the martyr on behalf of a proud nation.

            Late Gnr Kuldeep Singh was part of a road clearance team and sustained injuries when a private truck veered off the road and collided with the Army vehicle coming from the opposite direction in Chackot area of Awantipora in Pulwama district. He was provided immediate first aid and evacuated to 92 Base Hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

            The young martyr was only 21 years in age and had joined the Army in 2015. He belonged to Village Pitho of Rampura Phul Tehsil in Bhatinda District, Punjab and is survived by his parents and a brother.

            The mortal remains of the martyr were flown for last rites to his native place, where he would be laid to rest with full military honours. In this hour of grief, the Army stands in solidarity with the bereaved family of the martyr and remains committed to their dignity and well being.
