Udhampur, March 3: With a view to empower and impart skill to the local women of the remote villages in Rajouri District, the Army undertook upgradation of Army Women Empowerment Node. The effort focused on upgrading the existing facilities by procuring additional equipments, raw material and conduct of on the job training for women.

As part of the upgradation, a Socks Making Machine, Candle Making Machine, Stitching Paddle Machine and Umbrella Machine were procured and handed over for imparting effective training. In all 22 unemployed women from adjoining areas attended the upgradation programme and honed their skills.

Army Women Empowerment Node, which has now been refurbished, will facilitate better training to the women and provide means of self employment and self reliance. Towards this aim women are paid an honorarium and also the entire profit earned from sale of items manufactured by them.

The women folks who have been part of the upgradation training, have appreciated the Army’s effort in setting up of the node, imparting training, constantly upgrading the facilities and in the true sense empowering them by making them self reliant. The visionary project of the Army has significantly contributed towards the overall national aim of Women Empowerment and financial upliftment of these remote regions of the country.
