An Assistant Sub Inspector ( ASI) hailing from Doda is among the four policemen killed in an IED explosion in Sopore market area Saturday morning .
ASI Irshad Ahmad of Doda was on law and order duty when the IED exploded killing him and three others in the explosion on the spot.
A police spokesman said that three others killed in the explosion have been identified as Constable Ghulam Nabi of Rohamma , Rafiaabad, Constable Pravez Ahmad of Viligam, Handwara and Constable Mohammad Amin of Sogam, Kupwara .
Their bodies have been dispatched to their respective places, the spokesman said .
The police claimed to have launched a search operation , but there is no success so far .
However, no militant group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
It may be recalled that the unidentified militants had killed a civilian Arif Ahmad Sofi in Sopore on Wednesday.
