The Centre has agreed to give one time extension to the age relaxation in the Union Public Service Commission ( UPSC) examination  on the plea of  Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti  who had taken up the matter with the  Minister of State in Prime Minister’s Office Dr. Jitendra Singh on Thursday evening .

This extension in relaxation will be   for a period of five years beginning 2018 , according to sources in the P MO.

The candidates up to the age of 36 will be eligible to sit in the U P SC  combined services examinations .  The upper age for the candidates  in the rest of the country is 31 .

This relaxation that  has been awarded  by the  Ministry of Personnel, Government of India , has been done keeping in view the hard work and the investment made by  hundreds of probable seeking to sit in the UPSC examinations.

Earlier yesterday, the leader of opposition Omar Abdullah had  raised this  issue and urged upon the state government to take up the matter with the Centre.
