Jammu, July 03
A meeting of District Congress Committee (Urban ) Jammu under the chairmanship of its President Anil Chopra expressed concern and deep anguish over the hike of prices of ration at Government Ration Depots and demanded that it should be rolled back, immediately
Chopra said that the Government has miserably failed to fulfill any of its promises made during the elections. It failed to check the prices of essential commodities like ration, pulses, sugar etc. Instead of putting check on price hike, the State Govt. has increased the price of ration at Govt. depots, especially the Atta & Rice. Increase @ Rs.5 per Kg. is too much and it affects the common man. He declared that District Congress Committee Jammu will take the matter to streets and launch agitation against this anti-people move of the Govt.
He referred the news in media in which involvement of some BJP ministers were figured, while vehicle carrying black money was intercepted by the police and later the case was hushed up. He demanded that the names of such ministers should come out, so that the people may know the honesty of BJP and its ministers.
District Congress Committee also demanded holding of elections to the Municipal Corporations, Municipal Committees, Town Area Committees, as the elections of these bodies are overdue and it should be held before the elections of Panchayats which are also due.
