I am writing with regard to the recent JKPSC Combined Competitive Examination (Notification No: PSC/Exam/2018/38 Dated: 25.05.2018).
As per the said notification the age eligibility, specifically the maximum age limit of a candidate appearing for the exam is capped at 32 years.
Let us look at the maximum age criteria of few of the neighboring states ( for general category):
Punjab Punjab Civil Services – 37 years
Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission – 35 years
Haryana Public Service Commission – 40 years
Rajasthan Public Service Commission – 40 years
Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission – 40 years
Uttarakhand public service commission – 42 years
Considering the political situation in J&K where every other day there is a band or a hartal and the employment opportunities are dismal. Lives are disrupted frequently by cross border shelling.Whatever little jobs are provided by private sector are not well paying at all. Only decent employment opportunities exist in the government sector jobs.
Since the tussle between India, Pakistan, Separatists, Nationalists (the list goes on…) has left the situation in the state less than desirable for youth, it would have been expected that the maximum age criteria that JKPSC has set for CCE was at least at par with the neighboring states, but JKPSC has set this to 32 years. Even UPSC for J&K residents has relaxed the age limit to 35.
The criteria set by JKPSC defies logic and is without sound reasoning.
As an individual my voice will not carry much weight, thus I request you to kindly take up this and voice our opinion in this regard. We do not have anyone else to reach out for help other than you.
I humbly request you to please help as bring this point to JKPSC’s notice by publishing a piece on the said subject. You are our only hope.
