Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday placed under suspension a police constable over the killing of a youth in Kagan area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
Following the death of 22-year-old Gowhar Ahmad Rather on Tuesday, a departmental enquiry was ordered by the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
“Consequent upon his prima facie involvement in case FIR No. 18/2018 u/s 307 RPC Selection Grade Constable Gulzar Ahmad (belt no. 422/Gbl) is hereby placed under suspension with immediate effect, pending enquiry,” reads an order issued by the SSP.
A magisterial enquiry has also been ordered into the killing of the youth.
Rather had sustained serious firearm head injuries on Monday late afternoon and was taken to SKIMS Soura where he succumbed to injuries after 20-hours.
