A nation-wide lockdown across India came into effect from Tuesday midnight following an announcement by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During the 21-day lockdown, the strict restrictions will be on the movement of people but not to that of essential goods.

India has gone under a 21-day complete lockdown from Wednesday as part of the government’s stringent measures to combat the spread of coronavirus outbreak in the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the national lockdown in an address to the nation on Tuesday night. India reported 536 confirmed Covid-19 cases and 10 deaths till Tuesday.

The Tokyo 2020 Olympics have been postponed for around a year with the Japanese PM Shinzo Abe calling the postponement a “testament” to humanity’s victory over the new coronavirus pandemic.

Spain health ministry reports over 7,900 Covid-19 cases: Report

Spain’s health ministry, according to Reuters, reported 7,937 fresh cases of coronavirus cases in the country.
