Uttar Pradesh is going to be one of the biggest defence manufacturing hubs in India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said at DefExpo on Wednesday in Lucknow.

Given the boost in cyber threats, PM Modi assured that the defence forces were eyeing on new technology to combat it.

“Seeing new security challenges, the security forces are developing new technologies. Our aim is to develop 25 products based on artificial intelligence in the next 5 years,” PM Modi said.

“Misuse of technology, terrorism, cyber threat are challenges facing the world,” he added. “Defence forces eyeing new technology considering new threats; India is not behind.”

India plans on meeting the target on Rs 35,000 crore in 5 years in the defence exports, the PM said.

“In last two years, the defence exports from India reached Rs 17,000 crore. Now, the target to reach in 5 years is Rs 35,000,” he said.

While talking about artificial intelligence, PM Modi said that roadmap to implement AI in defence sector is finalised to be used.
