Srinagar, June 8:

National Conference president Farooq Abdullah is leaving for more than a month-long visit to London on Friday to escape the heat and dust of the Kashmir politics for a while.

He has entrusted the entire  responsibility of  running the party affairs and  discuss the political affairs with  Delhi  to  his son Omar Abdullah who was confirmed as a de-facto  number two  in the party hierarchy .

The  party had done away with the posts of vice presidents held by  senior leaders . They have now  been nominated as State Secretaries , that under the p[arty constitution, have  not much of the say in running affairs .

Farooq Abdullah  effected these changes days before his departure for London.

The party is expecting a political upheaval in the state and in the country as well .

So far it has taken no stand on the issue of dialogue nor on the ceasefire. It has been talking in different voices and flip-flopping on various issues .
