Srinagar, March 18:

National Conference  has chosen its president Farooq Abdullah and former education minister  Mohammad Akbar Lone for Srinagar and Baramullah parliamentary constituencies, while for Anantnag seat it is likely to  take decision on Tuesday.

This was the outcome of the party’s parliamentary board ‘s meeting on Monday. But the deliberations have remained inconclusive , and the board will meet again tomorrow.

The party’s workers have told the leaders, particularly vice president  Omar Abdullah, that they should not compromise on any of the three seats in the Valley. They, however, had no objection if the party conceded two seats  of Jammu-Poonch, and Doda-Udhampur to Congress in a bid to defeat the “ communal and divisive” BJP.

For Anantnag, the party is considering two names – Justice ( retd) Hasnain Masoodi and a former PDP leader . The final decision may be taken on Tuesday.

Party General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar has been deputed to talk to Hasnanin Masoodi.

There is another formula to which the NC may agree to . That is Congress can go in for friendly contest for Baramullah and Ladakh constituencies .
