Today Dept of Sanskrit & Sanskrit Bharti Jammu organised  “Divisional Sanskrit Conference” held at Brig. Rajinder Singh auditorium, University of Jammu. Former Minister of Culture, Education  & Tourism “Priya Sethi” the Chief Guest on the occasion  inaugurated the Conference. Dean  Acadamic Affairs, University of Jammu “Prof. Keshav Sharma” in his presidential address said Sanskrit is a  Mother of all languages and  Department of Sanskrit, University of jammu is playing a  very much important  role  for promotion of Sanskrit.

Prof. Meenakshi Kilam, Registrar, University of Jammu,  the Special Guest on the occasion, emphasised that  all the people of J&K state besides other languages  should learn Sanskrit so that they can understand the culture and traditions in a very holistic manner.

Shri Jaiprakash Goutam” in his keynote address  enlightened about the importance of Sanskrit Language. A book exhibition was also arranged by Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan. In the later session of this conference “Mr. Chandermonhan Gupta” Mayor, Municipal Corporation Jammu, was chief Guest, “Prof. Kuldipchandra Agnihotri”, Vice chancellor, Central University of Himachal was special Guest. “Prof. Sanjeev Jain” Vice Chancellor, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University was Saraswat Atithi, “Shri Dinesh Kamat” Akhilbharat Sangathan Mantri, Sanskrit Bharti, J&K, was Main Speaker. “Prof. Vishvamirti Shastri”,Division Head, Sanskrit Bharti, J&K was session president. Prof. Ram Bahadur HOD, Sanskrit, University of Jammu, the convenor of the Conference told that Department is consistently organizing functions of great magnitude to spread Sanskrit in the State. Exhibition was inaugurated by Swami Hridyanand Giri . Two Books of Prof. Ved Ghai and Dr Sunil Dutt were also released in this Session. An interactive session happened during second part of the conference in which Dinesh Kamtah – All India Sangathan Mantri answered the questions raised by the audience.

A Sanskrit Cultural Program of two hours enthralled the audience with different cultural items like Songs , Dance performance , Drama etc . A famous filmy dialogue from Bollywood blockbuster Sholay was delivered in Sanskrit – and amused the audience .

Among others School students especially from Balgran , Ujjala School ,Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan Kot Bhalwal, Students & Scholars from University ,Research Scholars , Prominent Citizens  general, Sanskrit Lovers and  public visited and appreciated the exhibition
