High-sounding  separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani  obsessed with Pakistan as his future nation  today took on  former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah  for the latter having  voiced his conviction that Kashmir issue could be resolved within the parameters of the Indian constitution.

Omar in his address at  New York University on Saturday had outlined a realistic approach of  converting LoC into  international border between India and Pakistan  and also accused Pakistan using terrorism as a tool to harass  this side of Jammu and Kashmir . He had also mocked at those calling for implementation of the  UN resolutions of Kashmir, while Pakistan never took the step one , vacating the state’s territory of its military presence.

Geelani who is facing lot of criticism for having caused huge economic , political and educational loss in the past over 100 days  of troubles in Kashmir, chose to take on Omar accusing him of  suggesting unacceptable solution. “ No Kashmir solution is possible within the Indian constitution,” he said in a statement reacting to Omar’s assertions in New York where he was heard and appreciated  and reported widely.

The separatist leader in his statement recalled the UN resolutions and how Indian Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru had pledged to  implement the same, but he clearly distorted  certain portions of the history wherein he cleverly obliterated Pakistan’s obligations for the implementations of these resolutions. He went on  to vent his anger against the National Conference leadership and charged it with “ betraying the interests of Kashmiris.”

Independent legislator  Sheikh Abdul Rashid, better known as Engineer Rashid, also criticized  Omar for  his faith in the Indian constitution and Kashmir’s resolution within that.
