The Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh today clarified that the Government Girls High School, City Chowk, Jammu is being relocated due to congestion and it is not being closed.
The students and parents of the school have been protesting over shifting of the school while there were rumours too about its closure for constructing a vehicle parking on that land.
Nirmal Singh told media, “We have offered compensation to the school for relocation as it is difficult to run a school in such congested place.”
The Chief Education Officer Jammu, Ram Pal Bal told JKNT that the process of shifting of the school has been going on for quiet sometime. “First the school was shifted to Dogra Hall complex. But it was difficult to run the school from there, ” told CEO
He added, “Now the classes are running from Central Basic School, Purani Mandi, Jammu.”
The sources told that government has planned to shift the school to Gujjar Nagar area where big open land of Auqaf is available.
