Kashmir Society International Chairman Khawaja Farooq Renzushah said that before 1989-1990 the road from Gupkar to Sheeraz Bagh of Gul-e-Lala & Botnical Garden was public road and not part of Raj Bhawan. It was the then CM who gifted this road to then Governor Jenab Jagmohan as part of Luxury of security and appeasement. Since then this public alternate road to Boulevard remained part of Raj Bhawan at the cast of lakhs of commuters and tourist traffic. There was well approved plan by central Govt to make Boulevard six lane road by acquiring non construction area of Boulevard for such purpose but the PWD Minister of PDP Govt. callously sabotaged the plan. With opening of Bagh e Gul-e-Lala and tourist season the Boulevard remains jammed for 3 to 4 hours round the clock which has caused not only to lakhs of residents inconvenience but also effected tourism.
It has been witnessed that in name of militancy all political main stream has made Security as means of luxuries. They have occupied in name of Security erstwhile Interrogation centres as their safe security Bungalows and annexed public parks of Deptt of Gardens as its lawns. The heritage sites have been sold or their character changed in name of security in the area. The rare of rare Gupkar caves of Raj Tarngi era have been plundered. Even previous Governor has transferred 4000 years old Budhist era tiles out of Harwan sites to Delhi and not returned so far. These rare of rarest tiles of holy Harwan sites where World Bhudhist conferences were held are assets of Kashmir and may be brought back. The holy shrines and graves of Buzargan-e-Deen were plundered and demolished to create Royal spring Golf course and wine Bar in the area. The name of Hazrat Sheeraz Bagh and his holy Sufi shrine was plundered. The Israeli singers like Zubin Mehta were made to sing in Shalimar by looting tourism Deptt. and German embassies in name of Israeli culture in Kashmir humiliating our Sufiyat.
If we compare Raj Bhawan of kashmir with other Raj Bhawans of country their is no precedence of such huge chunck of precious lands along public roads gifted to Raj Bhawan. It is only in Kashmir by previous regimes to justify the Govt. luxury in name of Security provided to them..
The present Governor Jenab Satiya Pal Malik who is known for his simplicity and pro people approach. Who has always taken bold steps to win hearts of people. Who never wants that for sake of security people should be made to suffer. Kashmir society international implore to him to return public road from Gupkar passing through Raj Bhawan back to public. This gracious act will open new chapters of peace and Kashmir Development.
