Srinagar, July 25:

Heavy rains lashed Kashmir Valley since morning throwing normal life out of gear. Many areas in the Srinagar city have been inundated with Lal Chowk being the worst hit.

Rainfall has created panic among people in Srinagar area other areas about the possibility of fresh floods. Other district headquarters also witnessed heavy rainfall since morning.

The Met department has forecast a three day spell of rain till Sunday. MeT officials say there are chances of heavy downpour in Jammu region as well.

Commuters are facing trouble as waterlogging has slowed down the traffic movement and business and other normal activities have also been affected.

The Irrigation & Flood Control department issued latest gauge readings of River Jhelum depicting no worries as of now about any flood like situation in Srinagar and elsewhere in Valley.

Meanwhile, the vehicular traffic on Srinagar Leh highway has been temporarily stopped due to landslides at various places triggered by incessant rains near Zojila Pass, since early morning.
