Security forces in a joint operation busted a militant hideout and recovered cache of arms and ammunition in Thanamandi area of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rajouri Chandan Kohli here on Wednesday said that in another major success on Anti-Militancy front, Jammu and Kashmir Police and Army have busted a militant hideout during a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in Manyal area of Thanamandi.
He said that an information was received by police regarding suspected presence of an old militant hideout in Manyal area of Thanamandi after which teams of Rajouri police, Special Operation Group and Rashtriya Rifles launched a CASO in the late evening on Tuesday.
“The entire area was kept under cordon and in the wee hours of Wednesday morning, searches were launched during which a militant hideout established under a portion of dense bushes was busted,” said the SSP.
He added that one Pike Rifle, one Chinese Pistol, one Local Pistol, one AK Magazines, two Pistol Magazines,168 Pika rounds, 47 AK rounds, four pistol rounds, two UBGL grenades, one Binocular, eight Ammunition belts, one Antenna and one Tape recorder have been recovered from the hideout busted during the operation.
“The area is still under searches and SDPO Thanamandi Sajjad Khan along with SHO Fareed Ahmed and officers of army’s Rashtriya Rifles are monitoring the operation,” the SSP said.
“Pro-active approach of forces and close synergy with all the sister agencies is playing it’s role and nefarious designs of anti-social elements are being foiled,” said the top cop.
