Union Home Minister Amit Shah has clarified that there is no effort to kick start the exercise of National Register of Citizens ( NRC) , and this should set at rest all the speculations and rumours about this issue.
In an interview on Tuesday , Home Minister made it more than clear that “ there has been no consultation on the issue of the NRC , neither in the cabinet nor in the Parliament.”
He admitted it honestly that the provision of bringing NRC is there in his party, BJP’s manifesto , and whenever this exercise would be undertaken, it would be in a transparent manner. “ Such things are not done in a clandestine manner.”
This resonates with what Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said at the Rmlila ground on Sunday.
This is honesty in public and political life of the top leaders of the country. Prime Minister and Home Minister have made a statement of facts, though separately , are on the same page.
