The government has restricted deposit of demonetised Rs.500 and 1000 into Banks to only once if it exceeds Rs.5000.
Sources said that this step was taken to prevent laundering of unaccounted cash using bank accounts.
“Whereas large deposit can be made only once into the bank account, there is no restriction on deposit of Rs.5000 in the account,” officials told.
There will be no restrictions on amount deposited towards the new black money disclosure scheme Pradhsn Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojna.
