Danesh Rana-IPS IGP Armed/ IR Jammu today flagged off two Jammu & Kashmir Police personnel for Mt. Everest Expedition-2019 being held under the aegis of MHA Government of India.
Sgct Nazir Ahmad No.ARP015470 of JKAP-14th Bn. and Const. Falail Singh ARP036774 of IRP-1st Bn. of J&K Police Mountaineering Team who performed outstandingly during the trial held by Sonam Gyalso Mountaineering Institute Sikkim and were selected for participation in Indian Police Mt. Everest Expedition-2019 from South Col. side have been flagged off for the said expedition.
Shri Dilbag Singh-IPS DGP J&K and Shri S.J.M Gillani-IPS ADGP Armed J&K congratulated Sgct Nazir Ahmad and Const. Falail Singh (JKP Mountaineers) for their selection for participation in the Mt. Everest Expedition-2019 and wished them “best of luck” for scaling the world’s highest peak Mt. Everest successfully.
Senior Officers present during the flag off ceremony include Shri Mehmood Ahmad SSP Staff Officer to ADGP Armed J&K, Shri Dushyant Sharma SSP Staff Officer (Sports) APHQ J&K, Shri Kuldeep Handoo Inspector, Shri Sajad Ahmad Inspector and Shri Ram Singh Sub-Inspector Incharge J&K Police Mountaineering Rescue Team (MRT).
Shri Ram Singh of Jammu & Kashmir Police was the first from Jammu & Kashmir Police as well as State of Jammu & Kashmir who successfully scaled the world’s highest peak “Mt. Everest” on 22nd May, 2008 during the Indian Police Mount Everest South Col. expedition held under the aegis of Ministry of Home Affairs Government of India. The success of Ram Singh led to establishment of a full-fledged Mountaineering Team of J&K Police in the year 2009. JKP Mountaineers headed by SI Ram Singh have so far scaled 25 peaks at International/ National level. This team has imparted mountain rescue training to more than 1000 JKP personnel including CRPF and SDRF officials in the State and has also the distinction of having rescued more than 3000 pilgrims from 2009 to 2018 during Shri Amarnathji Annual Yatra.
