Over 300 cyclists participate, 5 win Cycles

In its endeavour to spread Road Safety on the culmination of 29th National Road Safety week, a huge cycle rally was flagged off today in Jammu, with participation of more than 300 cyclists drawn from Jammu and R.S. Pora, Akhnoor and Samba including those from leading cycling groups.
Two eminent cyclists with vintage cycles of 1974 and 1980 model were also part of the rally.
The rally was flagged off by the Transport Commissioner, J&K, Saugat Biswas, in the presence of SSP Traffic, Jammu, Joginder Singh; Regional Transport Officer, Deep Raj; Joint Transport Commissioner, Vikas Sharma and functionaries of BIG FM, and other media houses.
The rally started from University of Jammu and passed through Police Hq Chowk, Bikram Chowk, Satwari Chowk, Green Belt Park Chowk, Ambedkar Chowk, Police Headquarter Chowk and culminated back at University of Jammu.
The young cyclists, while passing through different roads in white Road Safety t-shirts and caps, were eye catchers all along the route. They rode chanting the slogans of Road Safety “Sadak Suraksha Jeevan Raksha”.
Transport commissioner while speaking on the occasion, listed the awareness programmes organized by MVD during the week. He said that the cycle rally was taken out as the last event of the week long programme to spread the message of road safety and promote pollution free Jammu. He urged the people to take extra care of cyclists who are promoting pollution free Jammu.
SSP Traffic Jammu, Joginder Singh appealed to the people to follow the traffic rules and help the Department to serve in better way. RTO Jammu, Deep Raj informed that the aim of cycle rally was to promote cycle riding as it will help to bring down pollution level and keep people physically fit.
Anil Sharma from Jammu Cyclists Group said that their aim is to promote pollution free Jammu and the group members would continue to work for this cause.
BIG 92.7 FM, the media partner for the event presented a colourful show and enthralled the participants all along the event.
Their team comprising MJ Juhi, Cluster Head Vikrant and Monika spiced up the rally and promoted the cause of Road Safety in many events during the week.

On culmination of the rally, Cycles were also handed over to the winners of lucky draw by the Joint Transport Commissioner Vikas Sharma. The participants who won cycles in the event were Tushar Pandey, Rajveer Singh, Rajveer Chopra, Navjot Singh and Samarjeet Singh. These cycles were sponsored by Tata Motors.
Others who attended the Programme included Rashi Dutta Asstt Transport Commissioner, ARTOs, Jugal Sharma, Shafqat Majeed, Rajesh Gupta, Pawan Sharma, MVIs and other staff of the Motor Vehicles Department.
