VCJU Holds Interaction with University Fraternity

Prof Manoj Dhar, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, today held interaction with the University community to review the progress made, since last few months  on various flagship programmes.

Prof Dhar  exuded that Jammu University besides  academic and research,  must be known for   innovation  and skill development programmes and in that direction appropriate steps are being taken  to create  right platforms to achieve desired objectives e.g. establishing  Startups under  Business Incubation  & Innovation Centre, Skill development Courses and Industry- Academia interface

Prof Dhar outlined the reforms made in the area of examinations i.e. Online submission of forms and fees, Declaration of CBCS results in shortest possible time, Uploading of 14 lakh marks cards and degrees on National Academic Depository, Barcoding of Answer sheets. Vice-Chancellor expressed satisfaction  that  PURSE 2 project has achieved the desired  target in shortest possible time. He informed that major scientific facilities have being created under Purse grant. Prof Dhar reviewed the progress made   in Implementation of GFR 2017, Registrations on GeM portal and Digital signatures for e-procurement. Prof Dhar also talked about the need of revamping  University Website, Holding  the Academic Council and other meetings in digital format, ERP, Campus wide Networking by using latest technology, E-procurement  and University Calendar  updation in digital mode.

Prof  Dhar called upon all the stakeholders to contribute whole heartedly in enhancing the ranking and academic standing of the institution.“Over the years, challenges have increased manifold, especially in the wake of the recent ranking and grading, and expectations are high, which have to be met by putting in best in every sphere of activity, academics and research in particular.”The Vice Chancellor urged the heads of the various departments to focus on promoting research and innovations to prepare the younger generation to efficiently meet the requirements of the present and future market, besides being able to compete at the global level in various fields. Prof Dhar also dwelt in detail about the three weeks “Leadership of Academicians Program (LEAP)” under which Prof Rajni Dhingra , Prof. Meena Sharma and Prof Jasbir Singh  have  participated and said another batch of eligible Professors are also going under this programe to  instill in them leadership and administrative skills.

Earlier, Prof Keshav Sharma, Dean Academic Affairs, University of Jammu in his welcome address outlined the objectives of holding interaction and resonated the vision of the Vice-Chancellor.Prof Naresh Padha, , Co-ordinator, RUSA  in his PowerPoint presentation talked in detail about successful completion of  RUSA phase 1 and thereafter University got selected for component 4 i.e Enchancing Quality and Excellence  in a select Sate Universities under RUSA phase 2.0 by MHRD, Govt of India .

Prof Shailender Singh Jamwal, Dean Students Welfare in his address gave a view of the programmes chalked by the department to celebrate Golden Jubilee year of the university. Prof Jamwal also talked about the recent event in which Renowned lyricist, poet and film maker Jb Gulzar Sb was invited as part of Golden Jubilee Celebrations.Prof Parikshat S . Manhas, Peresident,IIC and Incharge Director (UNIIC) dwelled in detail through his PPT about  “building Sustainable Student Entrepreneurship through Innovative Educational Approach.” Prof Manhas  talked about the initiatives which have been taken so far and the road map ahead.Sh. Guneet Sudan, Incharge, GeM in his PPT explained in detail about the processes to be followed for registering  on GeM portal and Digital signatures for e-procurement .Ms Ginny Dogra , Deputy Director ( DIQA) underlined the key points which University have to follow to achieve higher grade under new NAAC Assessment & Accreditation process.

On this occasion Prof Manoj Dhar was  felicitated and the University fraternity urged upon Vice-Chancellor to make deliberations of such nature a regular feature as it helps the University fraternity to know the progress made on various fronts  and the new targets set by the University. It is pertinent to mention here that today’s event was held deliberately on a holiday because University is of the view that academic work on the Campus should not suffer that too at a time when  in the past due to unavoidable circumstances University functioning had to be suspended for sometime.

Dr Sumita Sharma, AR ( Budget & Finance) in her presentation gave details about the status of GRF 2017 implementation in the University in  a very lucid way she explained how the purchases can be made in an efficient and transparent manner , under GFR 2017

Among others, Prof R.K Ganjoo, Director,CDC, Prof Kulwant Singh, Controller of Examinations, Dr Meenakshi Kilam, Registrar, Deans, Directors, Reactors, Heads of various Departments and Campuses, faculty members and Officers were also present on the occasion .
