Jio Prime ends today: 7 things users need to know

New Delhi, April 15

Today is the last day to subscribe to Reliance Jio’s Prime membership. Late lasth month, the company had extended the deadline of its Prime programme by a fortnight to April 15.

The company said that the service has been extended due to the overwhelming response from the customers. Here’s all that it means for users.

  1. The days of free services are finally over for Reliance Jio customers. Starting tomorrow, April 16, the new tariff plan of the company will set it. Users will have to pay as per the plan they have taken.

  1. Earlier this week, Reliance Jio had launched its ‘Dhan Dhana Dhan’ scheme which offers 84GB data (1GB data per day) at the price of Rs 408 (Rs 309 + Rs 99) for a span of three months and Rs 509 for 84GB for 3 months (2GB daily). This offer too ends today, as it is ‘Prime exclusive’.

  1. Nothing changes for those users who signed up for Jio Prime membership and paid for the telco’s Rs 303 or other plans of higher value (for the first month) before telecom regulator Trai’s nixing it.

This means that all customers who subscribed to ‘Summer Surprise’ prior to its discontinuation remain eligible for the 3-months complimentary offer. There billing cycle will start from July.

  1. The Reliance Jio’s new tariff plan for non-Prime members start at Rs 408 and Rs 608 plan with 1GB and 2GB data usage restriction respectively. Both the plans have validity of 84 days.

  1. As announced during the launch of Reliance Jio services in September 2016, the voice calls (domestic) made to any network will continue to remain free.

  1. Voice calls across the country to any network remain free under Reliance Jio network. This means users will no longer have to pay roaming charges on voice calls across India.

  1. All new Reliance Jio’s tariff plans come with daily data usage restrictions (FUP). While the Rs 408 plan has daily-FUP limit of 1GB, it is 2GB in the Rs 608 plan. Users no longer have the option to go for Rs 999 or higher value plan. The plan offered users almost unlimited data with no daily FUP limit.
