The budget session of the Jammu and Kashmir legislature will start from January 2 , according to a communiqué issued by Raj Bhavan on Tuesday.
This budget session has been summoned by Governor N N Vohra exercising his powers under the state constitution . Jammu and Kashmir has its own constitution and the Governor and the legislature have unique powers under this constitution .
Vohra, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by the Constitution of Jammu and Kashmir, has summoned the State Legislative Assembly and the Legislative Council to meet at Jammu on Monday, the 2nd January 2017, at 11:00 a.m, the Raj Bhavan release on Tuesday evening said
The Governor has called upon the Members of the Jammu and Kashmir legislative Assembly and the Legislative Council to assemble together in the Central Hall of the Legislature Building in the New Secretariat premises Jammu, on Monday, the 2nd day of January, 2017, at 11:00 A.M to hear his Address to both the Houses of the Legislature .
After the said Address, each House of the Legislature will meet as a separate body at the time specified by the respective Presiding Officers.
The Governor approved the State Government’s proposal in regard to this matter today.
