Jammu and Kashmir Government has so far facilitated 23308 outbound migrant workers stranded in different parts of the Union Territory post Covid-19 lockdown, in going back to their states.
Coming to their rescue, the J&K government sent 16508 outbound workers by road through Lakhanpur Facilitation Centre and over 6800 others aboard five trains, which left from Katra.
As per the Nodal Officer J&K, 5 Shramik special trains departed to MP/Chattisgarh since May 19 from Katra Railway Station, carrying more than 6800 persons.
Meanwhile, besides facilitating smooth arrival of residents of J&K UT from rest of the country and their transportation to home districts , Lakhanpur Facilitation Centre is also facilitating outbound Labourers for onward journey to their native states.
Witnessing their increased footfall for the last few days, the Facilitation Centre has helped these labourers by arranging Vehicle for onward regulated movement to their respective locations.
The labourers reaching Lakhanpur are put to medical screening and permitted to go in buses with half of its seating capacity to maintain social distancing norms.
As per the figures provided by Lakhanpur Facilitation Centre, the workers sent to other states till May 20, 2020 include 5229 to Bihar; 6523 to Uttar Pradesh; 2034 to Madhya Pradesh; 112 to Himachal Pradesh; 87 to Gujrat ; 80 to Rajasthan; 181 to Punjab; 41 to Andhra Pradesh; 203 to Haryana; 419 to Delhi; 145 To Uttrakhand: 13 to Chandigarh ;193 to Jharkhand ; 818 to Chhattisgarh ; 227 to West Bengal and 203 to Odessa – making a total of 16508.
