Jammu, January 15: The Jammu and Kashmir government has sought at least 300 companies of additional companies of the Central Armed Police forces for the smooth conduct of the Panchayat polls in mid-February.
A senior government functionary told the J K News Today that the requisition has been made to the Ministry of Home Affairs as the state does require additional forces for the security reasons in Jammu and Kashmir .
He did not give out exact number of the companies that the MHA will give to the state. “The MHA will take a call on this .”
The Panchayat polls have become a big challenge for the state government because of the fast deteriorating situation in which the young children have started taking part in the high-risk fidayeen attacks, while others have come out openly against the army and help the militants to escape or target the army units.
“This is a very serious situation and holding of panchayat polls is going to be a very, very , difficult proposition,” a senior official said.
The officer also disclosed that the state’s political leadership is not having will to conduct the polls, the notification of which is scheduled to be issued on Wednesday .
