JAMMU April 18:

The Special meeting of the Syndicate of University of Jammu was held here this afternoon under the chairmanship of Prof Manoj Dhar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu.

Prof. Dhar in his introductory remarks elaborated on various recent initiatives of the University particularly in creating an ecosystem of Innovation and Entrepreneurship. He informed about  establishment of  Startups under Business Incubation  & Innovation Centre, Skill development Courses and Industry- Academia interface. The Vice Chancellor said that the University of  Jammu  would do hand holding of various affiliated Colleges and will  sign MOUs with various international Universities identified by MHRD.

Sh. Arun Kumar Mehta, Principal Secretary to Government, Finance Department, Financial Advisor (Universities), J&K Government in his maiden meeting emphasized that University should lay greater emphasis on Business Incubation and Skill development Courses. He suggested that efforts should be made to introduce applied Courses in the University. Further the research problems should be chosen after rigorous exercise.

Dr Meenakshi Kilam, Registrar, University of Jammu presented the various academic items in the meeting. Threadbare discussions were held on the items of academic importance.

The Syndicate meeting was attended by Principal Secretary to Government, Finance Department, Financial Advisor (Universities), Prof Naresh Padha, Dean, Faculty of Sciences, University of Jammu; Prof. Neelam Saraf, University of Jammu; Prof Vivek Gupta, University of Jammu; Prof Satnam Kour Raina, University of Jammu, Prof Mufeed Ahmed, Dean, The Business School, University of Kashmir, Prof. Nilofer Hassan Khan,  University of Kashmir, Dr. Sameru Sharma, Principal, GCET/ Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Prof. (Dr.) Samia Rashid, Principal/ Dean, GMC Srinagar, Dr. Kartar Chand Badgal, Principal, GDC Boys Kathua .
