The  School of Biotechnology  organized  colloquium in collaboration under the banner of  LBNROH a cancer care foundation trust, UICC  Geneva, Switzerland on World Cancer Day, 4th February, 2019.  The event was held in collaboration with Sri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) Katra and Govt Medical College, Jammu. The theme of the event was“CANCER IS PREVENTABLE”.  World Cancer Day is held every year on 4th  February, 2019 raise cancer awareness in world. The students, scholars from Environmental Sciences, Human Genetics and School of Biotechnology participated in the event. The theme of the colloquium was “CANCER IS PREVENTABLE”. The students spoke for and against the motion. They laid emphasis on the need to modify the life style and adopt healthy living practices that include daily exercise, healthy diet, no smoking, no drinking, proper vaccination and pollution free environment etc. The event was judged by Dr. Piyush Malvia, Department of Environmental  Sciences, Dr. Perwinder Kumar, Department of Zoology and Human Genetics, Prof. Jyoti Vakhlu, Dr. Sanjana Kaul and Dr. Nisha Kapoor.  Dr. Yash Paul Khajuria conducted overall session of the event. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Madhulika Bhagat.
