The Department of Fisheries conducted special sale of Fish in the localities dominated by Kashmiri Pandit population to facilitate the community on the eve of Mahashivratri Festival.
The sale points were put on February 19 and February 20 to provide fresh fish in hygienic condition to the Pandit community residing in Jammu District.
An adequate stock of fish was transported early morning in refrigerated vans to the places identified for the sale of fish.
The main locations covered for special sale of fish were Jagti, Nagrota, Purkhoo, Buta Nagar, Muthi, Durga Nagar, Tawi Vihar Sidhra, Anand Nagar, Gangyal etc.
A large number of Kashmiri Pandit Community members came to these special sale outlets organised by the Department of Fisheries for purchasing the fish. The sale was carried out in smooth and organised manner and huge quantity of fish of various varieties was supplied at these specified locations.
Besides facilitating the private fish farmers and fish vendors to sell their produce at Migrant Camps, the Department also ensured the supply of fish on Mahashivratri festival in non-camp areas where the Community resides.
