The Jammu and Kashmir police is reported to have summoned Major Aditya of 10 Garhwal , the army unit allegedly involved in the Shopian firing on January 27 that left three persons dead for questioning , according to police sources.
The sources said that the police have written a letter to the Brigadier of the army unit in the area to produce Major Adiya who has been named in the FIR filed by police which has its own loopholes for interrogation.
However, the army has maintained that its convoy men fired when they were attacked with stones and its men were injured in the heavy stone pelting. It is unlikely to produce the Major to the army, first because the officer according to the army was not on the spot, therefore, there was no question of his being produced for any questioning by the police.
The army sources said that the army has given its version in writing to the police and the police should take that in to account and that’s all.
