Prof. Parikshat Singh Manhas presently working as Director – School of Hospitality & Tourism Management,  Professor, The Business School, University of Jammu and also the Coordinator, Global Understanding Course & President, Institution Innovation Council has been appointed as Regional Director for Asia and Eastern Europe by World Centre of Excellence for Destinations (CED), A UNWTO affiliate.

The World Centre of Excellence for Destinations (CED) was created in 2007 with the support of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). The CED’s mission is to guide destinations worldwide towards excellence by supporting  them.in their efforts to foster sustainable development and increase their abilities to generate economic, social and cultural benefits. CED and UNWTO work collaboratively on creating strategies and disseminating know-how and good practices which help tourist destinations reach excellence by Reinforcing (strengthening) their competitiveness. The CED has 2 powerful tools SYSTEM OF MEASURES FOR EXCELLENCE IN DESTINATIONS (SMED) and GEOTEX An innovative platform for strengthening the capacity of stakeholders within a destination. GEOTEX is a joint initiative of the World Centre of Excellence for Destinations (CED) and the Multilateral Development Fund (MIF) of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), a member of the World Bank Group.

It is pertinent to mention that Prof. Parikshat was also Member of the Tourism Advisory Board of the State of Jammu & Kashmir which was headed by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of State of Jammu & Kashmir and Fellow of the Australia India Institute, New Delhi.  Presently he is a Visiting Professor, Taylor’s School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts, Taylors University, Malaysia and also has been a Visiting Professor to Zhubanov State University of Akotbe, Akotbe, Republic of Kazakhstan, Bashkir State University, Ufa, Bashkortostan, Russia and Graduate School of Business, ESAN University, Lima, Peru. Prof. Parikshat was runners-up at the Institute of Hospitality – Education Research Award, 2016 at Budapest. He has been awarded Major Project’s as the Project leader under the UK India Education and Research Initiative (UKIERI) Thematic Partnerships Scheme during the year 2015 and 2017. He was a Commonwealth Fellow for the year 2014, Hungarian Faculty Research Fellow in 2013 under the Indo Hungarian Educational Exchange Program for the year 2012-13, Shastri Indo-Canadian fellow in 2009 and won Career Award for Best Young Teacher (CAYT) awarded by All Indian Council for Technical Education (AICTE) – Government of India, 2009. He has been awarded Major Research Projects by University Grants Commission (UGC) and Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.
