Commissioner Secretary, Forest and Information Manoj Kumar Dwivedi, who is also In-charge Secretary for Budgam district for monitoring the developmental works, today chaired a meeting to take overall review of the progress of developmental activities being initiated in the district.
The meeting was attended by CCF Kashmir Farooq Ahmad Geelani, Director Information Gulzar Ahmad, Conservator Forests Srinagar Circle, Zubair Ahmad Shah, ADC Budgam Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani, SE, Hydraulics GA Beigh, SE PMGSY, JD Planing, Rafiq Ahmad, ACR, all SDMs, other district/sectoral officers and officials of concerned departments of district Budgam.
At the outset, DDC Budgam, Dr. Syed Sehrish Asgar presented the overall status of developmental projects, implementation of state and centrally sponsored schemes, child and women-oriented programmes, scenario of Health, Education, PDD, PHE and projects taken by various departments.
During the meeting, Manoj Dwivedi stressed for conducting teacher training sessions to improve quality of education besides resolution of pending salary and regularization issues of teachers at an earliest.
While giving out details, Education department revealed that the retention rate of children is above 88 percent in the district, three teams have been constituted to ensure that quality water is supplied to all the schools. The In-charge Secretary was further apprised that skill development programmes have been started at 16 Higher Secondary Schools in the district
Giving details about the Health sector, the Secretary was informed that from the targeted figure of 70051 beneficiaries, 52424 have been registered under the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
Under Social Welfare schemes, it was informed that 167 cases have been sanctioned under State Marriage Assistance Scheme. He stressed for the adoption of a camp approach rather than office approach for better results. Manoj Dwivedi directed for wide publicity of successful stories under NRLM in Khansahab.
It was revealed that District Budgam was not only self-sufficient in vegetable production but has become the only district which exports vegetable to other district and states. Highlighting the achievement, CAO said that 800 kanals of brick kiln land was retrieved in the past few years which is used for agricultural purposes in the district. He also informed that 74010 farmers have been registered under PM-Kisan scheme and Rs 19.20 crore has been provided as the first and second installment to them under the scheme.
Manoj Dwivedi vouched for foolproof district disaster management and preparedness plan for the Budgam. In this regard, he instructed the concerned to register more volunteers and directed for conducting regular training programmes for them.
The meeting was informed that under PMGSY, 174 kilometers of road stretch will be macadamized by the end of September 2019 in the district. It was told that 70100 un-electrified households were electrified in the district. The In-charge Secretary directed on the erection of new HT poles at all required places on war footing to prevent the occurrence of fatal accidents.
He lauded the role of district administration for promoting sports culture and holding massive sports related activities in the district. He stressed upon social forestry for roadside plantation along with strict vigil on smuggling activities in forests.
DDC Budgam revealed that various new initiatives were taken by the district administration including conference on women enclave, installation of Pad Dispenser machines and incinerators at schools under the banner “Nai Sooch”.
During recently concluded Back to Village programme, 504 works were taken up and 621 grievances were redressed on spot, DDC informed.
On the occasion, DDC raised various issues and sought intervention of In-charge Secretary regarding issuance of dewatering pumps for low lying areas, compensation of all Tosa maidan victims, and electrification of uncovered schools.
In the end, Manoj Dwivedi stressed on people-friendly approach so that the public at the grass-root level is satisfied with the functioning of district administration.
