Media persons covering assembly proceedings today boycotted the assembly proceedings after the post lunch session when Deputy Speaker Nazir Gurezi asked media not to report proceedings without the permission of Speaker or Deputy Speaker.
As soon as Deputy Speaker passed the instructions the journalists from various local and national media houses and from both print and electronic left the press gallery in protest against such directions.
Deputy Speaker passed the ruling on restrictions over media, the moment one NC MLA started fighting with Independent MLA Er Rashid immediately after he was marshalled out.
Though Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu and Parliamentary affairs minister Abdul Rahman Veeri approached the agitating media persons outside the assembly complex but they could not persuade them to return to the house to resume coverage of the assembly proceedings.
Later, media persons returned to the press gallery after Deputy Speaker Assembly Nazir Gurezi also appealed the journalists to come back to the gallery.
