Srinagar, January 17:
PDP president and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today regretted that the rape of an eight year girl in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir last year around this time was communalised.
Taking to Twitter , Mehbooba Mufti who has started characterizing her narrative PDP versus BJP after the latter pulled out of her government in June last year , said on the first anniversary of the crime that shook the nation “ Today marks a year since the horrific rape and murder an eight year old girl in Kathua. Sadly , instead of condemning such a gruesome incident, BJP lawmakers staged protests in favour of the rapists. Even a crime like rape was communalised and passions were stoked to justify it.”
Mehbooba has been consistently making it an issue in which she profiles BJP lawmakers , especially two former ministers Lal Singh and Chander Prakash Ganga as the ones who defended the rapists. The BJP was demanding the CBI probe into the heinous crime for thorough investigation .
She also complimented herself that she tried her best during her tenure as Chief Minister to get justice for the victim as she tweeted: “ As a CM I tried my best to ensure justice was done . Can only hope that the accused are punished severely so that no other girl has to endure such pain and trauma.”
