Srinagar, October 22

Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has convened  first-ever  Unified Headquarter  meeting during the current unrest to find a way out .

The meeting has been scheduled for  October 25, the sources said.

It  is designed to send two messages that Chief Minister is concerned over the security situation in Kashmir , particularly after the threats  surfacing following the  Uri attack  by Pakistan sponsored  terrorists  and retaliatory  surgical strikes  by the Indian army  in Pakistan occupied Kashmir.

However, the agenda  has not been finalsed . It will be a frank meeting where Chef Minister, according to sources close to her, would do some plain speaking  and  demand accountability from the army, paramilitary forces  and  police for the alleged excesses committed by them  while dealing with stone throwing protests.

She had pleaded with police to parent the  protestors and spare the local militants – a theory that the police and security forces find difficult to digest. “ It cannot be a one-way ticket, we are not here to get killed  by the stones, which are as lethal as bullets  nor are we here to start the crèches ,” another official  told JKNT.
