In  a major  initiative to bring the normal life back on track , the Jammu and Kashmir government will announce opening of mobile services in the Valley on Saturday .

The mobile services were snapped on August 5 , as a precautionary measure to prevent eruption of trouble in the wake of the scrapping of the Article 370 that granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir . It will be after a long gap of 68 days that the government will make this announcement to bring the normal life back on track that had got disrupted because of the communication clampdown that had involved the snapping of all connections , including land line phones , and the internet.

Official sources said while the mobile phones sans internet would be announced tomorrow. Earlier , government had announced the opening of the landlines.

The other measures to relax the situation will be taken shortly.

The absence of the mobile phones was being used as an excuse by the people in the Valley in not sending their children to schools, colleges and it was also being used as a pressure tactics by the trading community to shut their establishments and transporters to keep their vehicles off roads.

Governor Satya Pal Malik is keen to restore the normalcy in Kashmir as early as possible. He had pleaded with the Centre to open the mobile phones so that the things return to normal
