Srinagar, March 28

A day after his picture with an AK-47 rifle surfaced on the social media, the mother of 18-year-old Srinagar boy Fahad Mushtaq made a passionate appeal for his son: “Our home was saved in 2014 deluge, but this deluge will sweep my whole household. My son! Come back.”

Mymoona, a distraught mother, told journalists at Press Enclave in Srinagar that “this is the first time ever her son lied to her. I never expected that he would take this step”.

Last Friday, as per Mymoona, Fahad, who has reportedly joined Lashkar-e-Toiba militant outfit, told her that he is going with Tableegi Jamaa’t (group of preachers), reports Greater Kashmir

“He was more inclined towards religion from last year. So, I let him go. He had been going with them (Tablighi Jamaa’t). He had promised me that he will return on Monday, but never came back. We were shocked to see his picture brandishing a rifle on social media,” said wailing Mymoona.

Fahad, a resident of Akalmir Khanyar area of Srinagar’s old city, had last year failed to qualify his 10th class examination, said his uncle Zahoor Ahmad Wani.

He was looking disturbed. Something was brewing inside him. He was not even interested in studies. But, we didn’t know that he would take this extreme step where death is expected any moment,” said Wani.
