Senior National Conference MLA Ali Mohammad Sagar today said that the Union Government is trying to saffronise the education sector.
While speaking on the Grants of Education Department today, Sagar warned the State Government against the attempts of the BJP government at Centre to saffronise the education sector.
The Minister of State (MoS) for Education, Priya Sethi however asked the Speaker, Kavinder Gupta to expunge the NC legislator’s remarks claiming, “I think this issue should be raised in the Lok Sabha by the NC Parliamentarian. This matter has no relevance in the State Assembly. So, I request the Speaker to expunge the remarks of NC MLA.”
This irked the NC legislator say, “How can you expunge my words? I am also a citizen of this country, this state. I too have the right to speak on important issues of public importance. There’s no doubt that your government is saffronising the education sector by making the Surya Namaskar and other RSS rituals compulsory.”
Neither the Speaker nor the Minister then replied to the NC legislator.
