Jammu, January 2 The main opposition National Conference today castigated the PDP-BJP government for having added to the “ alienation, corruption and erosion of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir” in a memorandum submitted to Governor N N Vohra on the opening day of the joint session of the state legislature in Jammu on Tuesday.
In an eight-point memorandum , the National Conference voiced concern over the threat to the special status of Jammu and Kashmir because of the legal and political challenges to the Article 35-A, Article 370 and the failure of the state government to protect the same .
Consistent with its theme of finding faults with the functioning of the government and sharing the concern of the people over rising nepotism and corruption , the memorandum focused on the destablised political situation in the state as also the human rights violations and rising number of the civilian deaths .
The memorandum made a strong plea against the Mehbooba Mufti led government for having plunged J&K into chaos by its misgovernance, corruption and nepotism, inability to do anything to curb unemployment .
It reads : We want to express our concern over the state of chaos and disarray in the administration . The state The State Government has failed to deliver the basic responsibilities it is expected to fulfil in the dispensation of governance in the State . Governance deficit, corruption, nepotism, favouritism is the order of the day”.
It also pointed out the “Governance deficit and erosion of all the institutions has become order of the day.,” and it demanded that the government should be held accountable for its failure to govern and blatant instances of corruption should be exposed.”
The party made a caustic observation : “Transparency in recruitment is a casualty and is replaced by blatant backdoor appointments.” The party also touched upon the power sector and collapse of tourism sector and non-availability of essential commodities.
