KATRA, MARCH 24:

Shri Mata Vaishno Devi College of Nursing, Kakryal, won the overall championship of the 2-day Inter-College Nursing Fest “Tarang-2018”, which concluded with the valedictory function held at the Spiritual Growth Centre at Katra today.

In all, 246 students from six Nursing Colleges of the State participated in the Nursing Fest organised by the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi College of Nursing (SMVDCoN), Kakryal.

Maj. Gen. S. K. Sharma (Retd.), Member Shrine Board and Chairman of Governing Body of the College, was the Chief Guest. He gave away prizes to the winners of various competitions of “TARANG 2018”. He lauded the SMVDCoN for conducting the event extremely well and congratulated the participating students for their talents.

In debate, Pooja Devi and Jasneet Kour of Bee Enn College of Nursing, Jammu won the 1st prize, Masrat Yousuf and Preeti Verma of SMVDCoN got 2nd prize and Shahida Gani and Bilquees Rasheed of Alamdar Memorial College of Nursing and Medical Technology, Charar-i-Sharief, Budgam and Shilpa and Gurleen of Rajiv Gandhi College of Nursing jointly won the 3rdprize.

In poster making, 1st and 2nd prizes were won by Pragati Prateek and Priyanka Badyal respectively of Bee Enn College of Nursing and 3rd prize was secured by Lata Devi of SMVDCoN.

In quiz, 1st prize was jointly won by Masrat Majeed and team of Alamdar Memorial College of Nursing and Medical Technology and Ocean Tikku and team of SMVDCoN. Shakoora and team of Syed Mantaqi Memorial College of Nursing and Medical Technology, Awantipora won the 2nd prize while the 3rd prize was secured by Sehrish and team of Rajiv Gandhi College of Nursing.

In the cultural event, Ankita and team of SMVDCoN were declared the winners for their cultural presentation.

As far as sports competitions were concerned, in 100 metre race, Tania Goswami ofSMVDCoN, Ilam Sabha of Bee Enn College of Nursing and Tammana Choudhary of Rajiv Gandhi College of Nursing got 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes respectively. In 400 metre race, Slonee Raina of Bee Enn College of Nursing, Priya Saini of SMVDCoN and Urfi Yousuf of Alamdar Memorial College of Nursing and Medical Technology secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes respectively. In 4×100 metre relay race, Geetanjali and team of SMVDCoN, Saniya Altaf and team of Rajiv Gandhi College of Nursing and Masrat Jan and team of Bee Enn College of Nursing secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes respectively.

In Badminton doubles, Hyka Bhahadur and Shahida Gani of Alamdar Memorial College of Nursing and Medical Technology, Israt Yousuf and Sarswati Kotwal of SMVDCoN and Faiza Yousuf and Tohira Banoo of Stephens Institute of Paramedical Sciences, Jammu secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes respectively.

The welcome address was presented by Dr. Shailla Cannie, Principal of the SMVDCoN and Ms. Pushpa Oraon, Programme Vice Chairperson read out the activity report regarding the “Tarang 2018”. The vote of thanks was presented by Mr. Johny Kutty Joseph, Organizing Secretary of the Nursing Fest.

Among those present on the occasion were Dr. (Brig) M. M. Harjai, Administrator SMVDCoN and Patron of “Tarang 2018”, Mr. Pankaj Gupta, Dr. Arvind Karwani and Mr. Amit Vermani, Dy. CEOs, Mr. Rajinder Singh, OSD, Mr. Ashok Kumar, Director Sports and other officers of the Shrine Board, faculty, staff and students of the SMVDCoN and other participating colleges.

Earlier, in the morning, Dr. M. K. Kumar, Additional CEO of the Shrine Board declared open the athletics competitions at the Shrine Board’s Sports Complex at Katra. He spoke about the aims and objects of organising the Nursing Fest by the SMVDCoN. Dr. (Brig) M. M. Harjai, Administrator of the SMVDCON, stressed the importance of sports along with academics in the overall personality development.
